JOB SUMMARY: Using initiative and independent judgment, plans and implements professional nursing care
for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse and preceptor responsibilities as
assigned. Level requirements are delineated in the specific level performance standards.

Performance Improvement: Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome oriented indicators; participates in departmental and organizational improvement activities
Education and formal Training: High School diploma or GED. Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. Current Texas licensure as a RN.
Work Experience:The participant must have a minimum of three (3) years experience as a registered nurse.
Knowledge, skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills. Verbal and written skills required. Demonstrated effective organizational, teaching and leadership skills. Is knowledgeable of the age specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served. Must have command of the English language and possess visual and auditory acuity for accurate patient assessment.
Physical Requirements: work requires long periods of standing, walking or sitting and occasional assistance with heavy lifting (50 lb limit for pushing and lifting). May be required to work variable shifts on occasion. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
