JOB SUMMARY: Carries out all policies and procedures established by the Governing Board consisted with the philosophy and practices of the Hospital. Responsible for planning, organizing and influencing department activities and assuring financial records of the Hospital are maintained following generally accepted accounting standards. 


Sets realistic goals and meets those goals through set criteria that measures effective outcomes, focus and drive.

Demonstrates efficiency and meets deadlines.

Produces high quality work.

Identifies problems and possible solutions; contributes to organizational performance improvement.

Monitors organizational activities and takes appropriate actions as necessary to ensure efficient operation.

Able to connect processes, events, and systems, demonstrating a balance between process orientation and big-picture thinking.

Is able to set long-term and short-term financial goals for the organization.

Employs analytical abilities, pragmatism, and other tools to resolve complex problems in a variety of contexts.

Demonstrates flexibility; is willing to make changes in the work schedule and work assignments to meet changing demands/priorities.

Participates in scheduled meetings, in-services and required events.

Prepares an annual operating capital expenditure and cash flow budget showing the expected receipts and expenditures and such other information as required by the organization and submission of such budgets for approval.

Supervises financial affairs to ensure that funds are collected and expended to the best possible advantage and within the provision of the annual budgets.

Presents to the Governing Board or to its authorized committees periodic reports reflecting the financial activities of the hospital.

Identifies with, and shares in the organization’s commitment to mission, philosophy and goals.

Performs other duties assigned by the CEO/Administrator/Organizational Leaders that may be necessary in the best interest of the hospital.




  1. Bachelor degree in Accounting / Finance or closely related field.
  2. Extensive knowledge of Health Care Accounting practices and principles.
  3. Progressively responsible position in the Accounting profession.
  4. Familiarity with computer accounting programs.
  5. CPA preferred
  6. Membership and active participation in ACHE and/or other professional organization preferred.
  7. Five to seven years’ experience in hospital accounting/finance required; two years in management preferred.
  8. Management of hospital financial issues related to budgeting, cash management, capital finance, and performance evaluations.
  9. Knowledge of insurance matters, regulations, reimbursement, information systems and plant operations.
